 | I began creating custom pet portraits in late 2004 and continued for 5 years. In the space of that time, I've been very lucky and very blessed to have had my work lauded by the likes of The National Post, Life magazine, The Boston Globe, and PamperedPuppy.com (twice! I even got to do a portrait of Merry-what a treat!). I even did several dog illustrations for Modern Dog mag.
In late November 09, I made the decision to hang up my pet portrait paintbrush. It was not an easy decision but it was a necessary one with many reasons behind it.(For details, read my blog.)
I adored my time doing portraits-it was a period of real creative growth and business education. I also learned so much about animals, of course. Doing the portraits of each pet made me feel like I knew each one individually. By the time I was done, that little being had a piece of my heart forever.
During my tenure as pet portrait artist, I donated to countless charitable animal organizations, and I plan to continue to continue this work. I always have and always will adore pets, and I will always be an advocate for their rights and their safety.
